The foundation supports Saint Joseph Hospital, a pioneering institution established in 1873 by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth and recognized as Colorado's first private hospital and teaching hospital. Following its merger with Intermountain Health Care, Inc. and the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System, Inc. in April 2022, the organization has become a part of an integrated healthcare system, providing high-quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare services to communities across various states.

The primary mission of Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation is to provide financial support to Saint Joseph Hospital, enabling it to fulfill its mission of improving the health of the underserved and vulnerable populations. The foundation supports various initiatives at the hospital, including charity care and community health, behavioral health, women and infant care, cardiovascular and respiratory care, medical education, and oncology and cancer care.

In the realm of charity care and community health, Saint Joseph Hospital and three community clinics provide low or no-cost healthcare services to uninsured or underinsured, low-income individuals and families in the Denver area. The foundation also funds behavioral health programs, such as integrated care and suicide prevention programming for at-risk patients. For women and infants, the foundation supports programs that cater to their needs at different stages of life, including the neonatal intensive care unit, fourth-trimester care for postpartum women, and reunions of parents and children who received care in the NICU. In the field of cardiovascular and respiratory care, the foundation supports innovation and education, creating a cardiac intensive care unit, a cardiovascular lectureship series, and a respiratory institute to help patients manage chronic respiratory diseases.
