Rain Inc

Rain Inc, an organization dedicated to ending HIV within the community, empowers individuals living with HIV and those at risk to lead healthy and stigma-free lives. The nonprofit's mission is twofold: it aims to support those living with HIV by providing them with the necessary resources and care, and it seeks to prevent HIV transmission by offering prevention programs and education.

Rain Inc's services are diverse and comprehensive. They offer a program called Empowering Positive Youth (EPY) for young adults between the ages of 13 and 24 living with HIV. This program provides peer navigation, connecting them to healthcare, medication, HIV education, and emergency assistance. Support groups are also offered for both youth and their parents. Through EPY, 35 individuals were served in 2022.

Medical case management is another key service provided by Rain Inc. This program ensures linkage and retention in HIV medical care, provides access to support services, and offers community referrals to address each patient's unique needs. Each client has an individualized care plan, developed in collaboration with their medical case manager, to address barriers impacting health and wellness. The ultimate goal for medical case management clients is to achieve and maintain HIV viral suppression. In 2022, 68 individuals were served through this program.

Mental health services are also provided by Rain Inc, with on-site and telehealth counseling sessions available for clients. These sessions are offered through one-on-one sessions and support groups to address issues impacting individuals living with HIV. Services are provided by three licensed therapists in English and/or Spanish. In 2022, 68 individuals were served in the mental health program.

Rain Inc also offers PreP/PEP programs, which are biomedical HIV prevention strategies for HIV-negative people that reduce the risk of contracting the virus. The nonprofit connects HIV-negative people to a prescribing physician to obtain medications to reduce the risk of contracting HIV. In 2022, 131 individuals were served in this program.

Health insurance assistance services are available for uninsured individuals living with HIV. Rain Inc provides expert guidance, assisting with reviewing eligible healthcare plans, enrollment in affordable coverage, and premium assistance for those who qualify. In 2022, 267 individuals were served through the health insurance assistance services.

Rain Inc also offers services for the Spanish-speaking community, addressing unique cultural barriers to healthcare and engaging clients in medical care with the goal of long-term retention and viral suppression. In 2022, 19.8% of clients served by Rain identified as having Latino ethnicity.

Early intervention services are performed to identify individuals living with HIV who are not in care or those unaware of their HIV status. In 2022, 150 individuals were served through the Early Intervention Services (EIS) program. HIV testing is also offered to identify individuals living with HIV and those at risk. In 2022, through their partnership with the health department, 195 people were tested, and an additional 173 were tested by Rain's outreach department for a total of 368 people.

Rain Inc's EASE (Enhancing Wellness Through Affirming Services and Education) program partners with CREW to help individuals decide if they are ready for treatment through a holistic wellness program that focuses on harm reduction-based one-on-one counseling, group support, and substance use treatment. In 2022, Rain staff served 14 individuals through this partnership.

In 2022, Rain Inc served a total of 635 unique individuals. 93.2% of these individuals live at or below 300% of the federal poverty level, and 15% of clients utilized multiple services at Rain.
