In the 2022 fiscal year alone, the organization completed approximately 7,800 habitat projects, positively affecting 145,000 acres of land. Since its establishment in 1982, Pheasants Forever has undertaken over 577,300 habitat projects and invested more than $1.04 billion in initiatives aimed at improving ecosystems vital for pheasants, quail, and other wildlife.

A key focus area has been the acquisition of land for public wildlife management. In the past year, Pheasants Forever spent $17.7 million to help purchase 1,824 acres. To date, it has contributed to the acquisition of over 200,000 acres of land, facilitating public access to these vital habitats. Moreover, the organization recognizes the importance of shelterbelts, which provide crucial protection for wildlife during harsh weather. In 2022, nearly $692,000 was allocated for tree planting, contributing to a decades-long investment of almost $25 million.

Wetlands restoration is another crucial aspect of Pheasants Forever's efforts. These areas are essential for providing winter cover and shelter, with the organization restoring 612 acres of wetlands last year and around 87,696 acres since its inception. Food plots are also an integral part of the habitat strategy, with 82,872 acres planted in 2022, aimed at ensuring a reliable food source during winter months.

Nesting cover is recognized as vital for wildlife populations, and Pheasants Forever established or improved 25,380 acres of this habitat in the past year. This effort not only benefits pheasants but also enhances the ecosystems for other pollinators, thereby contributing to overall biodiversity. The organization's commitment to maintenance has resulted in over 56,000 projects since 1999, covering more than 3.6 million acres, ensuring that habitats remain viable and healthy.

Through partnerships and programs like the Farm Bill Biologist Program, Pheasants Forever has connected with nearly 38,000 landowners in the past year, aiding them in habitat improvement efforts across 1.8 million acres. This collaboration with local landowners and agencies underscores the organization’s role as a leader in conservation advocacy and education, promoting sustainable practices that benefit wildlife and their ecosystems.
