Kaleida Health, a leading healthcare provider in New York, is dedicated to advancing the health of communities by delivering comprehensive services and programs. Established as a voluntary, not-for-profit organization, Kaleida Health operates a hospital-based healthcare delivery system, serving the needs of patients through four acute care hospitals, two long-term care facilities, and numerous outpatient and primary care sites.

The organization's mission is to provide compassionate, high-value, and quality care, improving health in western New York and beyond. Kaleida Health's team of approximately 8,500 staff and 2,300 medical staff members work together to fulfill this mission, offering a broad range of services to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the population. Their programs aim to enhance patient care, medical training, and research, all in support of the community's health needs.

Kaleida Health is committed to providing emergency and uncompensated care for those in need. They operate four emergency rooms, generating a combined total of 162,635 patient visits annually. The emergency departments, which are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, serve anyone, regardless of their ability to pay. Kaleida Health's board of directors, comprised of community and faith leaders, business and industry professionals, healthcare and physician representatives, is dedicated to maintaining community control over the corporation.

The organization's medical staff membership is open to professionally competent individuals who meet the qualifications, standards, and requirements outlined in its bylaws, rules, and regulations, policies, and Kaleida Health's needs. Surplus funds are used to further the mission and operations of Kaleida Health, with investments in community benefit programs, facility improvements, patient care, medical, nursing, and allied health training, education, and research.

In response to the community's needs, Kaleida Health offers numerous community benefit programs and services. They improve access to care, advance public health, and relieve government programs through health fairs, health screenings, educational lectures and workshops, school health education programs, and consumer health information in the Kaleida Health Libraries. Additionally, they provide subsidized health services such as outpatient clinics, long-term care services, women's health centers, dialysis services, behavioral health services, school-based health centers, and early childhood programs.

Kaleida Health is a major teaching affiliate of the State University of New York at Buffalo's School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and Dental Medicine, with training for 400 medical and dental residents each year. The organization is involved in and sponsors research projects, and they offer loan forgiveness for physicians to establish or join existing practices that serve the underserved communities in Buffalo and western New York. Kaleida also provides clinical training facilities and support for nursing and a number of allied health professional training programs at local colleges and universities, as well as other professional development and continuing education training programs for colleagues from healthcare organizations across the region.
