Missionsafe A New Beginning Inc

Missionsafe A New Beginning Inc is a relational and trauma-informed youth development program dedicated to supporting at-risk and high-risk young people. The organization's mission is to work with these youth and their families, helping them gain essential skills, joy, and confidence to thrive, not just survive. Missionsafe A New Beginning Inc aims to improve their community and the larger world, with a commitment to reducing generational poverty and violence.

To accomplish its goals, Missionsafe A New Beginning Inc offers various programming. Explorers Academy is an out-of-school time program for youth aged 11 to 13, focusing on academic support, social and emotional growth, communication skills development, community service, violence prevention, civic engagement, and broadening experiences in the arts. The Youth Leadership Service Corps (YLSC) is another out-of-school time program for youth aged 14 to 18, focusing on personal growth, leadership development, communication, problem-solving skills, violence prevention, civic engagement, arts, college and career exploration, and job readiness training. MissionSafe Futures works with young people aged 14 to 24 who have been involved in violence or with the courts, providing job readiness and job training, life-skills training, and case management to create a path for long-term self-sufficiency, employment, growth, and fulfillment.

In addition, MissionSafe A New Beginning Inc offers Safe City Dorchester, a program working with diverse young people aged 11 to 21 and primarily from the Fields Corner and Bowdoin/Geneva areas of Dorchester. Safe City Academy is the key job training program, providing 18 young people per year with paid, experiential training in maintenance, repairs, painting, drywall, and related skills, which are then supplemented with additional training programs or jobs. MissionSafe Sports offers young men and women aged 14 and up access to sports programs in partnership with local organizations. MissionSafe Arts in Collaboration provides opportunities in spoken word, music, photography, scriptwriting, acting, and other visual and performing arts, recognizing the arts as a significant confidence builder and cognitive skill expander.

MissionSafe A New Beginning Inc also provides counseling for self-efficacy with a trained clinical counselor and clinical interns, fostering trauma-informed counseling and interactions. The organization's Youth, Street & School Outreach is an ongoing recruitment and interaction initiative, reaching out to and meeting youth and their families in their homes, on the streets, and in the schools to gain a better understanding of their lives in their community context and to monitor and help transform their academic experience. Lastly, Mission: Together - Alums/Parents is a grassroots initiative, reaching out and developing relationships with parents to engage them as allies in the organization's work with young people. Parents and alums of MissionSafe A New Beginning Inc come together to support the program and explore ways to support each other and promote positive change in their lives.
